What is ARTstor?
ARTstor is an online resource that includes approximately 300,000 images covering art, architecture
and archeology. It provides viewing and analyzing images through
features such as zooming and panning, saving groups of images online for
personal or shared uses, and creating both online and offline
presentation. It is available solely for educational and scholarly uses
that noncommercial in nature.
How do I access ARTstor?
ARTstor links are available in several places throughout the SVC
Libraries website. Click on the ARTstor logo at the
top of this page, or go to the
SVC Libraries
home page and click on the ARTstor logo or link under "
Search
for current articles" there. You may also link directly to ARTstor, but please be
aware that your personal account will eventually expire and you will
need to come back through the ARTstor link on the SVC Libraries web site
to renew it.
How do I set up an ARTstor user account?
To register, go to the ARTstor Welcome Page. Click on the “
Register”
button on the right-hand side of the Welcome Page. A Registration Form
will open, prompting you to enter a valid email address and a password
of your choice. When you are done, click on the “
Register” button and
you will automatically be registered and logged onto your new account.
From this point forward, whenever you return to ARTstor, you can log
onto your account by clicking the “
Logon” button immediately below the
“Register” button on the Welcome Page.
How do I access my class folder in ARTstor?
If your professor has instructed you to register to an ARTstor Shared
Folder, you will first need to
register for an
ARTstor account. Once you have logged onto your account, go to the
“
Tools” toolbar button and select “
Access Shared Folder”.
This will open
a Registration Form that prompts you to enter your name and a password
for the shared folder provided by your Instructor. Once you have
finished filling in the form, click on the “Register” button to confirm
your registration.
Now you can access that Shared Folder by going to the
“View Image Groups” menu on the Welcome Page. Use the first drop-down
menu to select the Shared Folder to which you are registered, then use
the second drop-down to choose the Image Group that you wish to view.
How do I learn how to use ARTstor?
ARTstor’s
Online Help Index is available by going to the “Help”
toolbar button in the top navigation bar and selecting the “ARTstor Help” option.
ARTstor also offers
online training that uses both recorded and live training sessions for
students and instructors on all aspects of using ARTstor.
