Skagit Valley College is pleased to extend library borrowing privileges to registered students and faculty of Washington State Community and Technical Colleges in accordance with a Reciprocal Agreement between the schools. You can find out more about Skagit Valley College Library Services by visiting our web site at http://library.skagit.edu/.

The following provides information about how Washington State Community and Technical college
students & faculty can become a borrower at Skagit Valley College, including information about your privileges and responsibilities as a borrower.

Library Card

To borrow library materials from Skagit Valley College, you will need to obtain a Skagit Valley College Community Card. You can do this by presenting your current student identification card at the Circulation Services desk. You must have your current student identification card with you to obtain a Skagit Valley College Library Card.

Your Community Card expires at the end of each academic quarter. Any outstanding fines or other charges must be paid before your card can be renewed. Please retain your card so that it can be re-used.

Privileges

Using your Community Card, you can borrow circulating materials from either the Mount Vernon or Whidbey Island Campus Libraries of Skagit Valley College.

This agreement does not provide Washington State Community and Technical college students and faculty with off-campus access to electronic resources that Skagit Valley College is contractually bound to limit to its own students, faculty, and staff. In addition, it does not extend to Skagit Valley College’s Interlibrary Loan service.

Loan Periods
Loan periods vary according to the type of material borrowed. The loan period for books is 21 days. Books can be renewed for one additional 21-day period unless another user has requested them. Periodicals and videos may be checked out for 3 days with one additional 3-day renewal period. You can renew materials by bringing them to the Circulation Services desk, or by calling 360.416.7837,or 360.378.5322.
Overdue and Lost Materials
All borrowed materials are due on the date due card/stamp. You can obtain information about the items you have checked out by using the view patron information feature accessed via the library web page.

You will receive fine notices via the mail.

Fines and Other Charges
You are personally responsible for any and all overdue fines and other library charges incurred on your card.
Loss of Privileges
If you accumulate $20 or more in overdue fines, you will no longer be able to borrow from Skagit Valley College Libraries.

If you have any outstanding charges, you will be unable to renew your Skagit Valley College Library Community Card.

Lending Your Card to Others
Because your Community Card is not a picture-ID, the library relies on you to not lend the card to others. Please remember that as the card holder of record, you are responsible for all materials borrowed using your card. DO NOT LOAN YOUR CARD TO ANYONE ELSE. If your card is lost, please notify the library immediately by calling 360.416.7838, or 360.378.5322, so its usage can be blocked.
