Beverage bottles with lids, travel mugs, and coffee containers from coffee vendors that have firm secure lids are permitted inside the library. Open beverage containers and other fast food disposable cups are not. If there is a question as to whether or not a beverage container is permissible, then approval is based on the discretion of the library staff.

The consumption of food is not allowed inside the library.  On the Mount Vernon campus, the consumption of food and beverages is permitted in the lobby area adjacent to the library. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the library staff for special occasions and events.

Library patrons with open drink containers or food will be asked to either dispose of the items or leave them at an appropriate designated area where they can be picked up upon exiting.

In the event of food or drink accidents please notify staff as soon as possible for clean up.
