**Due to high demand, we are experiencing a delay in the distribution of wifi hotspots. Please continue to use the Checkout Scheduler on the library website to reserve a hotspot as soon as possible. Library staff will contact you to schedule a time for pickup when we have more available.**
The Library is operating remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the building is closed to the public until further notice. We are still providing library materials and some course reserve materials. Library staff is available on a limited basis to distribute materials. Please browse the library website to view materials and place holds, and then schedule a time for pick up using the Online Scheduler or contact the Library Circulation Desk at library.circulation@skagit.edu. For help using the scheduler, watch this fun video!
Please note that all materials checked out through the library (including laptops) need to be returned at the end of each quarter!
Mount Vernon Campus Library
You may return books and other small items in the book drop behind the library at any time. For ease of access to the book drop, you will need to park in the Cardinal Center parking lot because of Covid-19 testing and walk to the book drop.
To return laptops and other large items, please call the circulation desk at 360-416-7837 or email library.circulation@skagit.edu to make pick up arrangements. To make arrangements to return items after hours, please call Campus Security at 360-416-7777.
Students can return library materials to the Whidbey Island Campus Library by using the drop box located in the walkway between Hayes Hall and Oak Hall. The lower level parking lot provides easy access to drop off library material.
To return laptops or other large items during Library Hours, please call the Whidbey Library at 360-679-5322. In case of no answer, contact Whidbey Island Campus Security at 360-679-5383.
You may renew your checked-out library materials by logging on to your library account. Use your full SVC email address and password to access your account. You may also email <library.circulation@skagit.edu for renewal assistance.
If you are unable to access your account to renew materials, please contact us. Overdue fines will be excused while the college remains in remote operations. LAPTOPS NEED TO BE RE-IMAGED PRIOR TO EACH QUARTER. LAPTOPS CANNOT BE UPDATED REMOTELY AND NEED TO BE RETURNED SO THEY CAN BE USED NEXT QUARTER.
During remote operations, our library databases offer access to articles, streaming videos, and e-books. Log into them from home using your full SVC email address and password.
While the college remains on remote operations, an SVC librarian will be available via chat to answer your questions during the quarter. Click the slide-out chat box labeled "Ask a Librarian" on this page to enter your name, email address and ask a question. After hours, the chat service is staffed 24/7 by librarians at other libraries in our international cooperative. For Spanish-speakers, the slide out chat box labeled "Preguntanos" will take you to a Spanish-language chat service.
You can also schedule a Zoom meeting with one of our friendly librarians to get assistance! Zoom Reference is available only during the regular quarters and is unavailable during intercessions.
Email will be monitored regularly while the library remains in remote operations.
