This is a guide for setting up a journal alert
in EBSCOhost. A journal alert will send you an email notification each time a
new issue of the selected journal is added to the EBSCOhost.
To set up a
journal alert, you must create a personal user
account in EBSCOhost.
Sign into your
personal account when you enter EBSCOhost by clicking on Sign In to My EBSCOhost.
Click on the Publications
button in the green banner at the top of the page.
Enter the
publication name in the Browse Publications search field.
Click on the
desired title in the publication list to view the Publication Details.
From the title's
Publication Details Screen, click the Journal Alert link.
In the
Run Alert for field, select how long the journal alert should run (one
month, two months, six months, or one year. The default value is one month
Enter
your email address In the Email Address field to be notified when
a new issue is available, Separate multiple
email addresses with a semicolon.
Enter a brief explanation
in the Subject field that will appear in the subject line of the Journal Alert email.
The default value for the
Title field is "EBSCOhost Alert Notification," or you can enter
a different title for the email.
The
default value for the Email [From] address is "eptech@epnet.com,"
or you can enter a different Email [From] email address.
The
default value for the Email format is "Plain Text," or you can
choose to format the alert email in HTML.
Select whether you want the email to
include a link to the TOC (table of contents) page on EBSCOhost or article links embedded within the email
message. The default value is to include article links embedded within the email
message.
The
default Email Results format is Brief, or you can choose to received a more detailed
format.
By
default, EBSCOhost access is limited to only the articles sent (rather than the entire
site). To change this value, unmark the checkbox to the left of this field.
By
default, your search string will be included in the email. To change this value,
unmark the checkbox to the left of this field.
When you have finished making changes, click
Save. You will be returned to the Publication Details Screen. A message is displayed that indicates a journal alert has been set for the publication.
