What is APA?

APA stands for the American Psychological Association and APA style is citation and format style used by this organization. APA style establishes standards of written communication concerning the writing sytle, citing references, the organization of content, and how to prepare a manuscript for publication in certain disciplines (or, in your case, certain classes).

Many academic and professional disciplines, including Biology, use this citation and format style for research papers. APA is most frequently used by writers and students in Nursing, Business, and the social sciences.

Article from a periodical or journal basic format:

Basic format for books:

    Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Publisher Name. DOI (if available)
