Social Justice Design ToolThis article describes the Social Justice
Syllabus Design Tool (SJSDT) created to facilitate a greater emphasis on social
justice in courses. In response to the historic and systemic marginalization of women and students
of color (SOC) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields in higher education, this article challenges college educators teaching these subjects to rethink and reframe their approach to developing course syllabi and content as a practical first step in doing social justice pedagogy and developing classroom environments that foster inclusivity and student success.
