Skagit Valley College Mission and Goals

Our Mission

The primary mission of the Skagit Valley College Library/Media services is to support the College’s mission by providing access to information and serving the diverse life-long educational needs of students, faculty, staff, and community. The library subscribes to the Library Bill of Rights and the Schools & Minors' Rights.

Our Goals

The goals of the Skagit Valley College Library/Media Services are to:

  • Foster student success and independent lifelong learning
  • Provide information resources and services that support faculty research and instructional programs
  • Provide access to information resources that support diverse educational and personal needs
  • Promote a positive learning environment
  • Selecting and using technology for the delivery of educational and informational services

In honor of Banned Books Week 2023, the SVC Library hosted a Banned Books Readout. The following SVC students, employees and community members read passages from their favorite books that have been banned or challenged.
