   Research Databases

Library databases are great places to do in-depth research.

  • Search the library databases using the Databases A-Z list.
    • All of the databases are accessible from off campus. When prompted, you will log in with your full MYSVC username and password.
    • It should look like this, username: first initial + last name + last 4 digits of ctclink#@mysvc.skagit.edu - Example: jrosas1234@mysvc.skagit.edu.

Databases are proprietary, reliable, vetted sources that offer online, full-text research, and articles from newspapers, journals, academic or popular sources, and peer-reviewed articles, that are searchable by keywords, search phrases, titles, subject areas, dates, or source type. You will also find other helpful tools like formatted citations and multiple sharing options.

Database Search step-by-step:

  1. Select the database of your choice from the A-Z list.
  2. From off-campus, you will need to log-in with SVC username and password.
  3. Enter search terms in the search boxes provided (basic terms only, avoid sentences or questions).
  4. Use the database filters and other tools to locate and save your items or ask for help from a librarian.
